Sometimes a producer need not look beyond his or her own catalog to craft something special and new. Ta-ku took the pieces of “Long Time No See”—an Atu-featuring highlight of his June EP Songs To Make Up To—and in turn created his latest effort, “Down For You.”
What sounds like a loving embrace by the warmth of a crackling fire also finds singer Alina Baraz laying down soulful vocals. In hopes of keeping someone important close by, she almost rhetorically asks the words in the track’s title. Slight retractions from the beat emphasize Baraz’s presence.
