Statik Selektah ft. Action Bronson, Ab-Soul & Elle Varner - "All You Need"

None

Statik Selektah’s upcoming Lucky 7 album is a reunion of sorts for old school New York hip-hop heads. Besides numerous features from his buddy Action Bronson, Statik enlisted Joey Bada$$, Bodega Bamz, and Talib Kweli for the album, which will drop, appropriately, on July 7.

Today brings the album’s third single. We’ve already heard the fantastic throwback jam “Beautiful Life” and slick verses from Styles P and Bun B. on “Top Tier,” but “All You Need” takes things in a new direction.

Starting with some harsh orders from Bronson (“Put Love & Hip-Hop on mute, man, turn that shit off. Put on the Nature Channel”), the song glides through Frank Ocean references and cooking references with the collective calm of a boat easing out of the harbor, complete with a brass section. Ab-Soul contributes a impassioned, not-quite-heartbroken verse and another piece of the Statik puzzle falls into place. He’s 3/3 thus far.
