We picked up Count Counsellor last year as part of our ongoing Daily Discovery feature and we’re happy to be premiering their new EP & The Childhood Heroes, a perfect combination of soulful singing and sun drenched pop production.
The tracks make for classic summer listening but they’re not just that. As the name would suggest, this EP is focused on Count Counsellor’s childhood. The four songs go through a frankly sad journey mimicking growing up; from an optimistic upbeat kid on “Cloud Calls,” turning gradually moodier and introspective, before finally ending up somewhere between frantic and happy on “akidoutthere.” Listen to it in full order to get the full effect or just put in on while sunbathing and drift away—both work.
