From DOOM to Freddie Gibbs to Talib Kweli, Stones Throw producer Madlib has collaborated with some of the game’s finest. The Dilla scholar just announced a new, hip-hop-themed EP in conjunction with Future Islands singer Samuel T. Herring for the latter’s latest creative endeavor, Trouble Knows Me.

Herring gravelly spits grim-sounding lyrics over his partner’s show-stealing, horn-heavy backdrop. The self-titled single follows the band member’s short history of rap experimenting, working with the likes of Hellfyre Club’s milo in the past and occasionally rapping at concerts.

Listen to “Trouble Knows Me” below. The EP is slated for a September 1 release. Lucky fans can score a rare 12″ copy of the record this weekend in Chicago (at Madlib’s concert) and Los Angeles (at the Rappcats pop-up shop).
