L.A.-based experimental noise pop outfit HEALTH will be releasing their first album in around six years in two weeks from now, and judging from what we’ve heard from the album, Death Magic, one would be lead to believe it’s a pretty stark change in direction for the band. “Men Today,” our third taste of music from the album, will put those fears to rest. It doesn’t have the pop-sheek of “Stonefist,” but it does remind us how fucking amazing HEALTH’s drums sound.
Combining their newfound polish with the animalistic brutality of their first record, “Men Today” is the type of shit that can leave you in awe for how huge it sounds. This is HEALTH proving once again how important and underrated they really are. They’re quite possibly one of America’s coolest sounding bands.
