In May, Beach House announced their first album in three years, as well as an accompanying world tour. Now they’ve shared their new lead single “Sparks,” from their forthcoming album Depression Cherry, due out on August 28 via Sub Pop.
Judging by the title alone, a song named “Sparks” would presumably sound electrifying and full of energy. But this is Beach House, after all, and they manage to do a beautiful job approaching it from a different perspective. It’s a dreamy, swirling wall of sound, with the electric guitar providing all the necessary sparks. Beach House is most assuredly back.
