Killer Mike Wants You To Vote For Him For Georgia State Legislature

Killer Mike—MC, one half of Run The Jewels, and occasional White House correspondent—has always made his political concerns well-known via his lyrics. Recently, however, the #BlackLivesMatter movement and increasing attention on police brutality and discrimination around the country have compelled the rapper to share his views through more conventional media: op-eds, TV appearances alongside talking heads, and college lectures.

Now it looks like he’s taking his commitment to activism a step further, urging supporters to vote for him as a write-in candidate in tomorrow’s special election for state representative of Georgia’s District 55 (in Atlanta). Michael Render (his given name) will face a challenging race—there are already seven declared candidates (!) vying for the position. The reason for the special election? Longtime District 55 representative Tyrone Brooks resigned shortly before he was indicted for tax and mail fraud.
