Chicago rap mystery Goodbye Tomorrow released their (his? her?) new video/single with a cryptic message: “Only U Define U. Shake Off Their Shallow Means of Control.” It’s certainly in keeping with their output thus far: Goodbye Tomorrow is a secretive sort, embedding imagery of hacking, secrecy and revolutionary independence through vicious, intelligent raps and guerilla artwork.
The new video for “Pray 2 God,” however, is the most ambitious work we’ve seen yet. The track isn’t quite two minutes long, but there’s enough complex, thoughtful video and lyrical content packed in that you’ll need to catch your breath afterwards despite the short runtime. Still no word as to Goodbye Tomorrow’s identity, but what’s in a name?
