1.

2. Lean Ghost - "Start It"

June 1 began the roll-out of various releases from the 1234 Creations collective. One of the featured releases "Start It" came from Lean Ghost. The track is pretty simple and low-key—the production is haunting, the flow sounds as if there's little to no effort, and yet there's something about "Start It" that is undeniably appealing.

3. XYLØ - "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea"

Fans of Lykke Li and Woodkid will find comfort in XYLØ's latest, a snare & chimes epic brimming with melancholy melodies.

"Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" a pop song to the fullest, artfully crafted with gentle harmonics and a steady pulse that makes it pass too quickly. This is crisp production and tight songwriting at its best.

4. Spooky Black & Bobby Raps - "Frozen Tundra"

Corbin—FKA Spooky Black—has changed his style quite a bit in the very short time that he's been putting music out. This week he put out his first project as Corbin—a joint EP with Bobby Raps.

One of the standout tracks from their Couch Potato EP is "Frozen Tundra." In just four minutes, the track takes more turns and twists than expected. But it never sounds out of control, only verging into that special brand of controlled chaos that Corbin can call his own.

5. Wiley ft. God's Gift - "And Again (Aquadrop Remix)"

One of the only ways to make grime even grimier is to drop some evil dance music behind it. Aquadrop is up to the task, pairing Wiley's smooth razor-rap with some equally murderous synths.

6. KRNE x Alexander Lewis - "Cotton Candy"

KRNE gets cruel for this collab with Alexander Lewis, combining the worlds of trap and evil clowns as they were always meant to be.

The clown sample is creepy enough, but then the two producers add in a minor circus organ that gives the whole thing a truly maniacal grin. A couple of minutes later, I can't stop shaking. Whether that's due to the phantasmagorical drops or the clown laughs remains to be seen.

7. BNJMN & Maurice Moore - "My Girl"

"My Girl" is what would happen if Drake traded his moody, broody bass-heavy beats for some happy-go-lucky PC Music backing. Maurice Moore provides the vocals, BNJMN takes care of the beats, and the sun floods in.

8. Leven Kali ft. Casey Veggies - "Rather Be Alone"

Lately it's seemed like more artists have begun making songs for introverts to relate to. There's always an endless amount of songs about partying and turning up, but not everyone is into that scene.

Leven Kali's latest single "Rather Be Alone" with Casey Veggies is right there, remembering those nights when you find yourself out with friends but can't stop thinking about how much you would rather just stay home by yourself.

9. Cousin Stizz - "Real Life"

Cousin Stizz

Cousin Stizz proved with his single "No Bells" that a laid-back delivery can end up being just as catchy as a more energetic flow.

Earlier this week he released his Suffolk County mixtape and showed he's not a one-trick rapper. On "Real Life," the Boston emcee picks up the tempo to match the intensity of the beat.

10. James Bay ft. Miracle - "Hold Back The River"

James Bay's single "Hold Back The River" is already a pretty big hit, but Australian rapper Miracle added his own verse to track, adding some much-needed bounce to the production. This new version of the song makes the track feel even more light and fun than the original.

11. drew the architect ft. bones - "lasting yesterday"

With Bones' stock skyrocketing after multiple appearances on A$AP Rocky's A.L.L.A, the rapper is sticking to his guns: free music and smoky beats. It's drew the architect handling production duties for "lasting yesterday," a track off drew's free ephemeral EP. Dive down into the clouds below.

12. Garren - "Mamákusa"

Garren

For his latest release, producer Garren opens up "Mamákusa" by flipping a sample of Michael Jackson's hit "Wanna Be Starting Something."

The sample starts the track off with a kick of energy before it sinks back into a more relaxing groove. Initially, it feels as if Garren may open it up into something more dramatic, but the cool down of the production comes as unexpected but pleasant surprise.

13. Lege ft. Masego - "Jungle"

Drake's single "Jungle" is a smooth slow-burner, but Lege and Masego come at it from a different angle. Their version of the track is much jazzier than the original, and the fresh production gives the track an extra bounce that breathes new energy into it.

14. Non Drifter - "40 Dayz"

Some days, life can feel like it's moving far too quickly. In order to screw your head on straight, many of us need a bit of down time to restore order. A track like Non Drifter's "40 Dayz" is the perfect soundtrack for some much needed relaxation. This kind of song is a certified stress-melter.

15. Ameer Vann - "Camera Roll"

Ameer Vann's latest track "Camera Roll" punches you right in the face. It immediately sounds like a song that was made out of pure frustration.

The filter over Vann's voice sets the dark tone of the song, and he doesn't let up from the opening bars. This is the kind of song that begs to be blasted at full volume when you want to block the rest of the world out.

16. Janet Jackson - "Got Til It's Gone (Zikomo Remix)"

The Joni Mitchell sample on Janet Jackson and Q-Tip's 1997 collaboration "Got Til It's Gone" is the nucleus of the entire record. For his remix, Zikomo kept that in mind and focused his attention on that loop. The tempo just on the right side of danceable, and wraps with a surprising outro that dims the lights and slows things down.
