Video: The Game ft. Dej Loaf - "Ryda"

The Game and Dej Loaf teamed up for “Ambitionz of a Rida” back in March, one of the early singles off Game’s upcoming album The Documentary 2 (due out June 30) and an allusion to the classic Tupac track. Now, the song title’s been shortened to “Ryda” and it has some classic-feeling, undeniably L.A. visuals to take it to the next level.

Directed by Benny Boom (“Dilemma,” “1,2 Step,” “Like Glue”—his resume reads like my favorite Spotify playlist), the heist-themed video had cinematic inspiration—”a little bit of Dead Presidents meets Heat meets Bonnie & Clyde,” according to Boom. It really works, recalling those classic early-2000’s videos while adding a fresh, definitively 2015 edge. The languorous camerawork adds the “L.A. vibe” the director was trying to create, and Dej and Game are (somehow) an ideal odd couple.

Go behind the scenes on the set of the video shoot below (via BET)—it’s sun, cars, and women as far as the eye can see.
