David Letterman only has a few more shows left until his official retirement from CBS’ Late Show. The last episodes have all included appearances from some of Letterman’s favorite guests and performers. Last night, Tom Waits returned to the show to do his final performance on the show and decided to perform a new song, which he dedicated to David Letterman before starting.
Tom Waits’ new song “Take One Last Look” is a sentimental, farewell song but the instrumentation feels reminiscent of a sweet lullaby. Though the song may come off somber, the lyrics are about celebrating all of the great things accomplished in one lifetime—perfect for Letterman’s final episodes.
