Jamie xx is set to make a major mark on 2015 with his debut solo album In Colour, which is out June 2 via Young Turks. We’ve already heard the outstanding “Loud Places” and “Gosh,” and today the most unique and surprising song off the album has been shared.
“I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” features Jamaican dancehall artist Popcaan on the chorus and two brilliant, ebullient verses from Young Thug. The vocals that open the song and sit under Popcaan are sampled from an all male a capella group from the ’70s, while the mix of crisp, martial drums and delicate steel pans, a mix that only such a talented producer could make work so well.
