Don't Worry, Mumford & Sons Hate Their Name Too

Just a couple of weeks ago, Mumford & Sons dissed the idea of Jay Z’s Tidal (they may have been on to something…) and now the band is dissing something else: themselves. In an incredibly self-aware interview with NME, the rockers knocked the decision to call their band Mumford & Sons and even admitted to wanting to change it. “I definitely regret the band name. If I’d known it was going to go this way I would have wanted to call it anything other than my last name,” lead singer Marcus Mumford said. “It’s a ball-ache. We thought about changing it but it’s a bit late now.”

That’s not the only thing they regret. “I think it would be fair to say that we’ve noticed that in some of our old photos we look like absolute idiots,” Mumford told NME. “There were so many car crashes. We look like us in our photos now. I don’t even want to describe how we used to look.”

Mumford & Sons will release their new album Wilder Mind on May 4, so we’ll just have to see if this new attitude translates in their music.
