Best New Mixes Streaming Right Now

By Moses Jazz Wiener

While gift giving is generally designated for the Christmas holidays, we're defying convention by presenting you with ten of the best mixes streaming right now for your enjoyment over the Easter weekend.

And unlike a chocolate egg filled with nothing but air, the tasty treats we're about to shared are filled to the brim with musical deliciousness. For example, there's the two-hour long Essential Mix from London's own Four Tet and Jamie xx, featuring some previously unheard tidbits. And if you can't get enough of Kieran Hebden, he also features on another b2b this week, alongside firm favourites of ours Floating Points and Caribou. There are also some mixes on the list that don't feature Four Tet, too. Those include sets from Spooky, Chimpo, Air Max '97, and a few others you may not yet be familiar with, but soon will be.

Flick your way through the following, and find your music library enriched. These are The Best New Mixes Streaming Right Now.

1.

2. Jamie xx & Four Tet: BBC Essential Mix

Known as a prestigious mark of distinction, if you're ever asked by Pete Tong to whip up an Essential Mix for the BBC, you know you're doing ok as a producer.

Whilst we doubt that Jamie xx and Four Tet required any further confirmation of their position as pioneers of electronic music, they asserted their prowess like their reputations depended on it for a period of two hours.

If you haven't already, press play to hear shiny new productions from Wen, Roots Manuva, Koreless, Throwing Snow, and as you probably know, music from both Jamie and Kieran respectively.

3. Fracture & Chimpo: FACT Mix 489

Time to wind back the pace, as another two of the UK's producers go back-to-back on a mix for Fact Magazine slow things the fuck down to fantastic effect.

Fracture and Chimpo find themselves somewhere between 80 and 100 beats per minute for a duration of forty seven minutes, throwing down some hip hop, dancehall, and other songs from FKA Twigs, Björk, Wiley and more; all of which have been slowed down to a point of near indistinguishability (but in a good way). On their selections, Fracture added "this is a slow motion mix. The idea came from wanting to fit a load of music we had got together into a mix but having to slow some down to make it work”. And it does!

4. Floating Points, Four Tet & Caribou: NTS Radio Mix

Say hello to Four Tet again, and say hello to the other back-to-back mix session of his which seems to have found it's way onto this list, featuring friends by the names of Caribou and Floating Points.

Compared to his essential mix with Jamie xx, this set streamed originally via NTS Radio can be described as a more laid-back affair. Less focus on 'that new new', and instead it's a foraging frenzy into each of their record collections. And if you know much about Floating Points, Four Tet, and/or Caribou, you'll know that those collections run deep.

5. Erick The Architect: ARCstrumentals: Vol. 1

Erick Arc Elliott, better known as Erick The Architect of the Flatbush Zombies crew, has shared the first (in what we hope will be many) collection of instrumentals he's amassed over time.

'ARCstrumentals Vol. 1' features a blissed out blend of tunes that's still heavy on the bass, and whilst we would never be seen to condone any kind of drug use, having a blunt to hand would be no bad thing. So, situation permitting, have yourself a little blaze as this one plays.

6. Rambow: DECLINE 2K15 MIX

Whenever a mix has made it into our top ten, but runs for less than half an hour, you know there's good reason.

Ripped from the Swimteam69 takeover on Radar Radio, New York based producer Rambow kicks as much ass as his muscle-bound namesake on a mix that starts off on a tribal vibe, and then proceeds to explode with energy. Be sure to stretch prior to listening, or otherwise you could do yourself some serious damage.

7. Ari Goldman (Beautiful Swimmers): Mix for Berceuse Heroique

If you own a head shop and you've rinsed your Tuff Gong compilation one too many times, or you're intrepidly exploring the depths of digi-dub and don't know what to listen to next, this mix from Ari Goldman aka Beautiful Swimmers is probably what you're looking for.

From dubplates to disco rollers to full-on house jams, this mix he's put together for the fine folk at Berceuse Heroique finds itself frolicking between genres like a bachelor party frolicks between bars.

8. Slackk, Grandmixxer, Spooky: B2B for NTS Radio

Screwfaces at the ready for this mix from Slackk, Grandmixxer and Spooky.

Running at 2-hours long, 'grime' was the order of the day at the NTS studio. Starting off the show with one of his own productions, Slackk was later joined in the studio by Grandmixxer and Spooky, all of whom shared tracks that'll put your sub to work. And with over sixty tracks from people like Novelist, DJ Q, Royal T, as well as productions from each of the lads themselves, you're spoiled for choice.

9. Air Max '97: Dummy Mix 250

Marking the 250th episode in their mix series, Dummy Magazine approached Melbourne-based club producer Air Max '97 to make a memorable mix for the occasion and he didn't disappoint.

"It's a clubbish set that implodes about halfway through and gradually reconstructs itself. It includes two cuts from the 'World Series' EP, Fruit Crush from my last EP, a blend I made, my remix of Victoria Kim and Divoli S'vere's Kiko Kicks, and some things I've been really enjoying from other artists". And in turn, here's the result for you to enjoy.

10. Ekali x Maximus MMC: Mix for Rinse FM France

Ekali and Maximus MMC have both appeared in our bi-weekly line-ups before, but this is the first time they've appeared together on the list together, and it all went down on Moose Records' takeover on Rinse FM's French outpost.

Ekali and Maximus MMC's mix actually starts about half way through, but have a listen to the entire barrage of beats delivered instead of flicking forward. Trust us. There's goodness from Hudson Mohawke, Pomo, SZA, Falcons, and a fair few producers that are making waves on the interwebz. You'd be a fool to skip this one.

11. ∆dmin: KRPT Mixtape

Bringing this week's list to a close like a warm blanket over your body is this brilliant mix from Adam Wickens aka ∆dmin.

He recently released his 'Good Vibrations' EP with Andy Compton, and that in itself is probably an easy enough description to use for the mix he whipped up for KRPT. There are elements of disco, funk, soul, house, jazz, and even a sprinkling of bossa nova – all dreamily mixed together. Let ∆dmin take you on a ride, but make sure you check back in a couple of weeks time for our next installment of the Best New Mixes Streaming Right Now.
