With Sufjan Stevens’ Carrie & Lowell coming up on March 31 through Ashmatic Kitty Records, today brings another new song. Fans who haven’t been feeling Sufjan’s more experimental releases of the past years should be happy to hear that he’s back to creating the gentle, beautifully arranged, folk-inspired music that he became known for in the early-2000s.
According to a press release, the project explores themes of “life and death, love and loss, and the artist’s struggle to make sense of the beauty and ugliness of love. The album is named for Stevens’ mother and stepfather.”
