Late last year, 17-year-old Canadian rapper and producer Night Lovell surprised us with his distinct debut mixtape, Concept Nothing. His sound is fully formed, his production brutal and on-point, Concept Vague presented an artist in their prime, despite the fact he’s only just gotten started. Three months on and a few live shows later, it looks like Lovell isn’t planning on slowing down anytime soon, with 2015 looking to be a pretty big year for the budding musician.
“Still Cold / Pathway Private” is just as widescreen and booming as we’ve now come to expect from Lovell, with him delivering his menacing rhymes effortlessly over a medieval-like beat. The track is produced by Dylan Brady, who worked with Nok from the Future to create an inventive cover of Nirvana’s “Breed” for our Teenage Angst Has Paid Off Well covers compilation. Dylan and Lovell make for a strong pairing, and “Still Cold / Pathway Private” is definitely proof of this.
