Minnesota’s Soundset hip-hop festival just booked Chester Watson. The young rapper will be appearing alongside names like J. Cole and Atmosphere, and he’s celebrating the moment with some new music.
“Voodoo” will be on his next LP, and it continues Chester’s recent tradition of one-verse tracks. The track is extremely gritty, full of harsh drums and drugged-out harp samples.
We were also recently gifted with an “Amnesia” remix, courtesy of Bishop Nehru. His solemn, thoughtful baritone is a perfect complement to Watson’s primary flow.
R I T U A L and Chester put out the original a couple months ago, but Nehru’s new verse comes with a silky instrumental rework, a heavier pulse between piano and percussion. Stream below and check out the lineup for Soundset 2015.
