Listen To A Soulful Cover Of "CoCo" By Somebody's Grandma

OT Genasis’s hit “CoCo” has gotten almost every kind of remix treatment at this point, from the official Meek Mill and Young Jeezy joint to an uptempo merengue take, and just about everything in between. Now, an anonymous grandma who is apparently an “ex-drug dealer” and “gang member” is getting in on the smash single.

In classic soul style, she first takes the track to church with an extended riff on the first three words…and then the beat drops. Whether this woman is really a grandma or really an ex-drug dealer is hard to say, but she’s definitely got pipes. This grandma brings the energy, too—her fiery rendition makes the original sound like a lullaby. Consider subbing in this version on your preparty playlist.
