Back in the end of 2013, Bandcamp announced that they raised 50 million dollars for artists through their site. At the time, they promised to double this over the next eighteen months. Today the platform revealed they’ve reached their goal, and two months early at that.
Bandcamp states that artists get an average of $3.5 million from fans each month and fans buy around 16,000 records a day. Which, if you do the math, comes out to about an album every five seconds. Well done, Bandcamp.
