Video: Shlohmo - "Buried"

A warning: this video may, depending on your disposition, be severely upsetting. But then again, it seems unfair to ask a producer like Shlohmo to make videos that can do anything less. His Dark Red album is due out April 7, and we first heard “Buried” (and got tour dates) a few weeks back.

The video’s lead (played by Jessica Collins) is pregnant, distraught, and hopeless on the desolate streets of Los Angeles. The baby is coming right now, and the video explores her intense, all-consuming pain for the majority of its six minutes. The visual narrative becomes a lead melody layered above Shlohmo’s roaring instrumental, a unique facet of his musical tool belt. Directed by Lance Drake, the video stays harsh, just like the music it accompanies. That Dark Red album title just got a little darker.
