Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon Claims Lana Del Rey Doesn't Even Know What Feminism Is

None

Next week, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth is releasing her new memoir titled Girl In A Band. An excerpt taken from her memoir reveals that Gordon had a few things to say about various journalists and musicians, including Lana Del Rey.

Gordon apparently did not like the comments Lana made about feminism in her interview with The Fader last summer. Lana said that “feminism just isn’t an interesting concept” to her. “Whenever people bring up feminism, I’m like, god. I’m just not really that interested,” said Del Rey.

Those comments did not sit well with the Sonic Youth founder. She claimed that Del Rey “doesn’t even know what feminism is.” The leaked excerpt from the memoir states:

Today we have someone like Lana Del Rey, who doesn’t even know what feminism is, who believes women can do whatever they want, which, in her world, tilts toward self-destruction, whether it’s sleeping with gross old men or getting gang raped by bikers. Equal pay and equal rights would be nice. Naturally, it’s just a persona. If she really truly believes it’s beautiful when young musicians go out on a hot flame of drugs and depression, why doesn’t she just off herself?

Kim Gordon’s memoir Girl In A Band goes on sale on February 24.
