Pussy Riot Makes a Powerful Statement with First English Song Titled "I Can't Breathe"

Pussy Riot has become known for not being afraid to speak their minds and stand up for their beliefs. Their latest song further proves that point. For their first song in English, they wrote a meaningful song which they dedicated to the late Eric Garner and titled after his last words: “I Can’t Breathe.” The powerful lyrics are matched with eye opening visuals.

In the video, Masha and Nadya of Pussy Riot can be seen in Russian police riot uniforms being buried alive. The women look increasingly uncomfortable as the heavy soil is aggressively thrown on top of their bodies and into their faces.

Pussy Riot stated, “This song is for Eric and for all those from Russia to America and around the globe who suffer from state terror – killed, choked, perished because of war and state sponsored violence of all kinds – for political prisoners and those on the streets fighting for change. We stand in solidarity. “
