Milwaukee rapper Job Jetson made his Pigeons and Planes debut in an October 2014 edition of 5 On It with “Cheeks,” a moody strip club anthem for those who see the world with a purple tint and prefer two cups to one. New single “Gold Skin” shows Jetson to be fully in tune with the syrupy sea change led by Drake to make rap music a bit darker without moving it away from pole-dance readiness. “Gold Skin” is slower than “Cheeks,” but feels a bit more exultant in its dense, atmospheric production—a celebration on half-speed, the sound of stumbling through a strip club at the blurry tail-end of a night of beautiful illusions.

Add Jetson to the list of talents to watch from one of hip-hop’s lesser known hotbeds.
