No Ceilings 3: Get to Know Conner Youngblood, Ricky Eat Acid, Glass Gang, and Abhi//Dijon

1.

We're back tonight, with the third installment of the No Ceilings concert series. The idea is simple—we want to put on shows with some of our favorite up and coming artists, and so far we've had the likes of Rome Forunte, Tunji Ige, Wara From the NBHD, Pell, and Daytrip.

This time, it's a little different. No rap, but lots of awesome music from abhi//dijon, Glass Gang, Ricky Eat Acid, Conner Youngblood. Just in case you're not familiar with the artists we put together this post so you can check out their music and get to know them a little bit before tonight.

3. Conner Youngblood

We've been listening to Conner Youngblood for years now. His path in music has been an interesting one—he's a Yale graduate who has had some trying experiences with record labels, been putting in work as an opening act around the country, and recently moved from Dallas to the historically musical city of Memphis. This isn't your typical stumble-on-a-hit story of modern internet hype.

His music is great—check out more on SoundCloud—but his live show is equally special. As a self-produced one-man band, Conner uses multiple instruments, loops, and effects to build his songs on stage. He's still working on his between-song banter (we're expecting at least one joke, Conner), but years of creating and performing have yielded a beautiful concert experience that makes Conner Youngblood stand out among so many of his peers who did things the easy way.

7. Ricky Eat Acid

Maryland-based Ricky Eat Acid is a producer with a truly unique sound. It's as if he's taken hip-hop drums, psychedelic rock records, Aphex Twin's back catalog, ambient music, and field recordings, mixed all that with Ryan Hemsworth's explorations of the deepest corners of the internet, and come out with a hypnotic end product.

His latest single "Context" was a whirring, whirling Panda Bear-esque trip, but previous releases range from the riotous rave of "angels" to a gang of stellar remixes. Ricky will have you dancing, Ricky might even have you feeling like you're floating, and Ricky will definitely have you entertained.

13. Glass Gang

Brooklyn's own Glass Gang went the mysterious route at first, letting their moody, engrossing blend of crisp electronics, distorted guitars, and hushed vocals speak for itself. All their music marches forward with a slow-moving, seemingly unstoppable energy, but there's a fragility there too—is this the soundtrack to a dream or a nightmare?

Prepare to have your senses assaulted by these hometown heroes.

17. abhi//dijon

R&B duo abhi/dijon has been racking up SoundCloud plays and gaining plenty of attention online, but this No Ceilings event will be their first headlining show in New York City. They may be relatively new to most listeners, but their moves have been calculated. "Obviously for us we’re still learning a lot and we’re still learning every day," they told us last year. "I think the one thing that helped us progress the most was setting our goals really high." With good music and the ambition to match, tonight's performance should be a special one.
