Primitive 3D graphics have a distinct charm to them. They can be surreal and disturbing, or endearing in a nostalgic sense. The self-directed video for Hot Sugar’s latest track, “Not Afraid to Die,” makes brilliant use of some deliberately outdated visuals. Taking place in a dimly lit room, the video vaguely follows the story of a child who can only interact with the world using the internet. It’s an interesting, if not dystopian concept, taking a look at what the world might look like to someone who’s only source of light is that of a computer monitor.
“Not Afraid to Die” is taken from Hot Sugar’s upcoming album, God’s Hand, which is due for release February 24.
