No Ceilings Round 2

1.

NO CEILINGS is back.

Our first show was a great time, so we're bringing No Ceilings back for another round. The second installment of our NYC concert goes down at The Studio at Webster Hall, and we've got an excellent lineup of some of our favorite current artists: Rome Fortune, Tunji Ige, Jon Waltz, Chaz French, and Ace Cosgrove. In case you're coming out and still aren't familiar with these guys, we put together a little intro post so you can check out the music, come to the show, and pretend that you know what's up. See you on Wednesday.

3. Rome Fortune

Has anyone worked with as wide a variety of awesome artists as Rome Fortune has in 2014? Whether he was dropping quirky tunes with iLoveMakonnen, glittering tracks with Four Tet, bangers with Young Thug, or working with Atlanta's best producers, Rome kept the levels very high. The crowning achievement was the Small VVorld album, which showcases his variety across 11 excellent tracks, from trading bars with OG Maco to singing on "Workin' Gal."

With a unique sense of style and a natural charisma, Rome's first ever headlining New York show is sure to be memorable.

8. Tunji Ige

Entirely written, produced, mixed, and mastered by Tunji Ige himself, The Love Project is an incredibly impressive debut effort. After gaining some buzz when the catchy "Day2Day" was remixed by iLoveMakonnen and Michael Christmas, the Philadelphia native outdid himself on the album, proving he can hit you with the soulful vocals one moment ("Ball is Life"), chilled reflective vibes the next ("Trust Fund Chick"), and then flip into straight bars ("Red Light"). Influenced as much by Kid Cudi and Kanye as he is James Blake, Tunji Ige is the sort of artist set to thrive as genre boundaries blur and listeners become more open minded.

10. Jon Waltz

It's not often that you hear a young new rapper and immediately start thinking about crossover potential, but Jon Waltz has it. He's 19 years old and only recently started taking music seriously, but he's gaining momentum quickly, and for good reason. He can rap and he can sing, and on songs like "Bang," he brings his talents together with Drake-like versatility, except with less showmanship and less corny bravado-driven lyrics.

14. Chaz French

DC native Chaz French makes music that is full of raw emotion and passion. The beats hit hard and whether Chaz is spitting about being homeless and having a lack of role models or turning up on massive tunes like "Came Down" and "Erryday Stunutin'," his songs feel honest. "LMGLML" with GoldLink had more people checking for Chaz, but make sure you check out the entire, cohesive Happy Belated mixtape.

16. Ace Cosgrove

One thing that all the artists on this No Ceilings lineup have is a fresh, youthful energy. They're all still relatively new to the game, and they're all making music that you couldn't imagine being made 10, or even 5, years ago. That being said, Ace Cosgrove might be the most vibrant of them all. His music is colorful and filled with bright ideas. His USvsROBOTS project is unpredictable, but that's exactly what makes him such an exciting artist—even from one verse to the next, you never know exactly what you're going to get.
