Jam City is switching things up on his forthcoming second album.
We knew the Night Slugs member for his sleek and futuristic beats, all club focussed minimalism with a hyper-real sheen, but on “Crisis” we hear warmer analog instruments and even his own bright vocals. “Crisis” follows “Unhappy,” which was a swirling rush of warm, bright textures, and the new track sees Jam City really showing off his songwriting abilities, with a golden hook and guitar line that you might expect to come from a California surf-rock band, not from one of the UK’s foremost club music innovators.
Somehow both nostalgic and totally current, Jam City’s “Crisis” and “Unhappy” have us very excited for the new album. Check out both below.
