Earlier this week, Taylor Swift announced that she was pulling her entire catalog of music off of Spotify. Many assume the reason behind this decision was to increase sales of her latest album 1989—but with over a million copies sold in just the first week, it doesn’t seem like she really needed any extra help.

However, Taylor took the time to explain her decision anyway by saying:

The music industry itself is changing so quickly, that everything new, like Spotify, all feels to me a bit like a grand experiment. And I’m not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists, and creators of this music. And I just don’t agree with perpetuating the perception that music has no value and should be free.

Taylor Swift seems to be content with her choice, and is clearly doing just fine. As for Spotify, they’ve made a playlist for you to listen to until Taylor returns.
