Stream Mura Masa's Debut Album "Soundtrack To A Death"

Just a week after Mura Masa popped up on our radar, the 18-year-old English producer has released a stunning debut album titled Soundtrack To A Death. The album runs 14 tracks in all, expanding upon Mura Masa’s acknowledged fascination with Japanese mythologies and melodies—his name comes from legendary Japanese swordmaker Muramasa Sengo.

But Mura Masa’s influences have a decidedly English bent as well, calling upon James Blake and Cashmere Cat for inspiration. The songs are largely instrumental (the exceptions include the pitch-bending vocal-samplings in “æ (Money)” and “I’ve Never Felt So Good.” His variety of instruments and tones render most vocals unnecessary, though I’d be surprised if we don’t hear these tracks remixed in the near future. Stream Soundtrack To A Death below, and check out our recent Daily Discovery/interview with the young beatmaker.
