There’s a certain feeling that comes about when discovering a remarkably unique artist on Soundcloud. It’s a feeling that’s pretty hard to match, especially when you’re incredibly passionate about music. When it’s a producer, it’s hard not to think, “WOW this dude could make killer beats for *INSERT RAPPER HERE*.” The elusive Bine, who only has a few blurry shots of himself and a surreal Twitter outside of his music, carries an aesthetic that sounds sort of like Boards of Canada were they crafting their sounds in a decrepit trap house.
Saying that, skittering hi-hats are thankfully kept to a minimum, and his squelchy sound is simultaneously haunting, beautiful, and just a little menacing. “Street Embryo” isn’t one of his most intricately detailed tracks, but it is one of his best.
