Premiere: Turan Streams His Ambitious New EP and Shares 5 Underground UK Artists to Look Out For

1.

Turan has impressed us with each new song and video that he's shared from his new EP Persistence of Memory, and now the whole project is here, it's easy to see that he is an artist of vision.

Turan is a rapper, producer, singer, and multi instrumentalist, and a wide range of influences reveal themselves with even the most cursory of listens to the EP. At one moment there will be slow, spoken word vocals and delicate piano, the next Turan will be singing, and then suddenly he'll be furiously rapping over pounding production.

Along with the full stream of the EP, we asked Turan to share five underground UK artists that he loves with us, and his choices reveal someone who not only draws influence from across all styles of music, but who also has great taste.

Listen to the Persistence of Memory EP below and buy it here. Click through the slides and discover some awesome underground UK talent.

3. Palace

Turan says:

My manager brought this band to my attention. I love a slap of reverb to create a past-time atmosphere. Then, “somewhere under your skin, your alive… flood my veins.” Simple, Nostalgic. I love it.

4. Savages

Turan says:

Im obsessed with female guitarists, they communicate a feeling that men just aren’t able to do. Even through the screaming distortion, I can still here a woman's cry pleading, “Don’t let the fuckers get you down."

5. Akkord

Turan says:

If you havent seen this guy Dj its one of the things you need to do before you die!!!

6. TALA

Turan says:

I love that even if you wanted to you couldn’t really put this song within the limits of a category.

7. Jon Hopkins

Turan says:

I first came across his music in Lovely Bones soundtrack a few years back. I personally think he’s the best producer around at the moment.
