Mac DeMarco’s music always has a very relaxed and dreamy quality about it thanks to the instrumentation. Besides Mac’s own guitar playing, the sound his fans have come to love all comes together with a little help from his band. Now one of the band members—guitar player Peter Sagar, to be exact—has stepped out of the shadows to release his own solo project under the pseudonym HOMESHAKE.
HOMESHAKE released a self-titled EP last year and the debut solo album In The Shower is set to be released on October 7th. One of the lead singles, “Making a Fool of You” should be very pleasing to Mac DeMarco fans. Similar to DeMarco, Sagar’s sound is indie rock with undertones of jazz. His vocals are simultaneously hypnotizing and heartbreaking but soon the drums and a groovy bass line come in to level things out before the song gets too sad. Proving that it is possible to get your emotions out while still making music people can nod along to.
