La Plage, made up of Flore, Loïc, and Nico, are a new Belgian trio making their indelible first mark on the world with “Rendez Vous” and “Mark.” The trio met and formed La Plage two years ago, meeting when all three had a strong desire to make pop music. “Our meeting was the natural result of many different dimensions such as the love we had for certain bands or just simply the fact that there was a great human feeling between us. The story of our meeting is really close to the story told in “Rendez Vous” which was the very first song we made on the very first day.”

“Rendez Vous” was the very first song we made on the very first day.

Their sound is the perfect soundtrack to that end of summer nostalgia you might be probably feeling right about now. It possesses a charming je ne sais quoi, both upbeat and downbeat in the same breath, and is inspired by “the poetry of Tellier, Timberlake, and long walks on the beach,” the band explains. “The weather and the places we record influence us a lot in terms of how we make music. We discuss a lot about arts, food, colours. We are more influenced by the result of our discussions than the subjects of the talks. The aim of our discussions is to develop our points of view and to reflect it in our music.”

They debuted with “Rendez Vous,” and now the trio is back with their second single “Mark,” which we’re happy to premiere below. Flore’s voice coos over smooth, electronic infused beats that crackle and fizzle as the chorus starts to pick up. When it comes to writing and producing the tracks, the band has chosen to keep it all in the family for now. “We write everything by ourselves and try to produce as much as we can because we want to keep total control in our artistic productions in a musical and visual way. We are definitely aware that we cannot do everything by ourselves so when we need to work with someone else, it’s always a collaboration based on mutual trust. “

Belgium isn’t an origin country that comes up that often in conversations about music. “It’s pretty hard for us to describe the music scene in Belgium because everything has been moving so fast for the last five years with a lot of very interesting projects all around the country,” says La Plage. “What attracts us the most is that there has always been a great tradition of jazz and electronic music.”

La Plage seems to have a lot going for them, so check out their newest offering “Mark” below, as well as their debut “Rendez Vous.” Buy them here via Honeymoon Records.
