Video Premiere: Willow Beats - "Merewif"

Watch the new video for Australian duo Willow Beats' "Merewif"

In Old English poetry, the word “merewif” is used to describe women of the water, or more simply, mermaids. With this in mind, it makes sense that the video for Willow Beats’ song of the same title is primarily filmed underwater. “It’s a tale of transcendence,” explains Kalyani Mumtaz. “The story follows my journey to the surface of the water, rising from the ashes and shedding skin.” The clip is beautifully shot and perfectly highlights the dreamy, fantastical elements of the song. “Merewif” is the first single off the uncle-niece duo’s new EP.
