Johnny Lloyd, former frontman of Tribes, quietly put out “Pilgrims” and “Dead Beat” in May, returning as a nostalgic singer/songwriter recording everything on an 8-track and making the kind of music that could easily be 30 years old. He followed that opening salvo with two more new songs to make up the Pilgrims EP (stream here), further cementing his new identity at the same time as impressing us with his songwriting abilities.

He’s already moved on to his next release, The Happy Humans EP, and we’re delighted to premiere the video for the title track today. Where the Pilgrims EP was full of heartbreak and breakup songs, “Happy Humans” is a heartfelt love song, full of irresistibly romantic couplets like, “I need what you got, make me what I’m not.” Basically, if you’ve got a crush but don’t know what to say, just learn this song and sing it to him/her, or at least play it on a boombox outside their window.

The video is a collection of found footage, similar in style to Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games” visual, and works perfectly to reflect both the lyrics and the overall feel of the song. Check it out above.
