When Jessie Ware’s recommends something on Twitter, we check it out immediately. Not just because her list of collaborators proves that she has great taste, but also because it was thanks to her that we first discovered Kwabs in February of 2013. Just a little bit earlier today she shared this beauty on Twitter, a song called “A Kiss Goodbye” by Emile Haynie and featuring the prodigious talents of Charlotte Gainsbourg, Devonté Hynes and Sampha.
Emile Haynie is an American producer who has worked with hip-hop heavyweights like Eminem and Kanye West and pop stars like Lana Del Rey, while his most recent songwriting work came on FKA twigs debut album LP1.
Today, he releases a gorgeous song with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sampha and Dev Hynes. There was no way this super-talented combo was going to make a bad song, but “A Kiss Goodbye” is really beautiful, with the switch from rumbling, pounding production and Charlotte Gainsbourg’s voice to just Sampha’s vocals and piano creating a really breathtaking moment.
