Dev Hynes Says He Was Assaulted By Lollapalooza Security [UPDATE]

None

Dev Hynes took to his Twitter account hours after performing at Lollapalooza, saying that he and his girlfriend Samantha Urbani were assaulted by security at the festival. As you can see in the above tweets, Dev says that the security grabbed Samantha, and when he asked what was going on, they grabbed his neck and threw him to the ground. He added that he is in pain, and that he and Samantha plan on pressing charges. He also mentioned that Lollapalooza is deleting comments relating to the incident from their Facebook page.

Dev also tweeted about the irony of the situation, given the t-shirt he was wearing:

We will keep you posted with further developments.

UPDATE 1: Samantha’s shared her thoughts on this situation, which you can see up above. She echoes the thoughts towards Eric Garner, but does mention that they spoke with Lollapalooza, who says that the security involved in this situation were not Lollapalooza staff, but security that was “privately hired for that stage.” No word on what effect that will have on the situation going forward.

UPDATE 2: Lollapalooza has shared a statment with Pitchfork regarding the incident: “Late Friday night, we learned of an incident involving an artist and a security guard on site. Since then, we have been in contact with those involved and the authorities, as we work together to resolve the situation. As always, our top priority is to ensure the safety of everyone at the festival.”
