Even in overpopulated ecosystems, there is always room for another intriguing voice.
Culver City, CA-born, London-based 19-year-old Celeste Waite arrives with “Born Again,” a slice of electronic soul produced by another emerging talent in the realm (and an artist previously featured in P&P), Tev’n. Built on skittering percussion, springy sound effects, and evocative piano chords, “Born Again” showcases Waite’s smoky, powerful vocal, providing bounce and energy with enough open space to let the singer shine. It doesn’t feel like a revelation in a crowded room, but it does point to potential well worth watching.
