Turan describes his music as “avant garde, passionate, and honest.” Listening to his debut track “Departed,” it’s easy to see why. Taken from his forthcoming debut EP, Persistence of Memory, the UK-based multi instrumentalist’s track flows like Yeezus were it arranged by David Lynch. It’s intense stuff, but it’s not without its prettier and more inviting qualities.

His coarse, obscured take on hip-hop froths slowly, steadily evolving. Turan says that Hans Zimmer is one of his influences, and it’s an influence that makes itself more apparent as the track reaches its frenzied climax. It’s cinematic, but it feels of the moment, and uniquely personal. Turan will be releasing Persistence of Memory on August 18, via TRIBE Records.
