The first 30 seconds of Alison Valentine’s “Pixie Dust” suggest that it will be a gentle pop or R&B jam, but then that bass and vocal sample kick in, and it’s clear that the song is a much more interesting beast. There are a few different influences at play here, with the vocals being honeyed R&B perfection and the beat starting off slow before revealing its dance music roots. Those roots should come as no surprise when you discover that French producer Para One, co-founder of the awesome Marble label and general bossman in on production.
