Listen to Young Fathers' Ominous Remix of Tricky's "Nicotine Love"

Scottish trio Young Fathers

Tricky made his name with the dark and menacing take on trip-hop that was his 1995 debut album Maxinquaye, and he has been a constant innovator ever since. He’s back with a new album, Adrian Thaws, on September 8, and fellow musical boundary pushers, Scottish trio Young Fathers, have remixed Tricky’s “Nicotine Love.” The original was pretty upbeat, as collaborator Francesca Belmonte’s honeyed vocals were paired with a thumping bassline, but the remix twists it almost beyond recognition. That bass is still there, but slowed down to a menacing crawl, while Young Fathers add their own vocals to the mix too.

Check out the “StraightFace” remix above and the original below.
