2. Ryan Hemsworth ft. UV Boi - "Gods"

We were just talking about Ryan Hemsworth’s hip-hop production chops earlier this week, and his latest track—this one a collaboration with UV Boi—is just begging for a rapper to spit over it. "Gods" has a bounce and energy to it that keeps things from ever slowing down too much, and that is all topped off by glorious technicolor melodies that wend their way back and forth.

3. iLoveMakonnen - "Down 4 So Long"

iLoveMakonnen is releasing music with impressive rapidity. His latest, "Down 4 So Long," has the rapper singing his heart out as he gets reflective about his current state. Weird, unique, and totally entrancing.

4. Beat Connection - "Hesitation (Jerome LOL Remix)"

Seattle-based band Beat Connection's "Hesitation" is one of the most infectious jams of 2014. Jerome LOL turns it into a gentle lullaby, keeping the hook intact and throwing in a sudden epic section towards the end.

5. The Weeknd - "King of the Fall"

The Weeknd continues to share new music as he prepares for his forthcoming "King of the Fall" tour, letting loose a new song with great production but the same old subject matter and style.

6. Seekae - "Test & Recognize (Flume Re-Work)"

Flume creates an off-kilter rework of Seekae's "Test & Recognize," slowing down the pace of the manic original for a rework that's fitting for late night drives and reflective moments.

7. Lowell - "The Bells (dd elle Remix)"

Lowell's music is already incredibly fun and upbeat, and dd elle injects yet more sugary sweetness into proceedings. dd elle's music is always bursting with different ideas and elements that shouldn't necessarily fit together, and although this remix is a little more straightforward, it's still fizzes and sparkles with an endearing energy.

8. Tricky - "Nicotine Love (Young Fathers Remix)"

Scottish experimental rap trio Young Fathers took fellow sonic adventurer Tricky's latest single in a totally new direction, turning the surprisingly bouncy (for Tricky at least) track into an evil, brooding beast. The huge bass from the original remains, but slowed down, while Young Fathers also add their own vocals.

9. Hucci - "Hitta"

Dangerously young producer Hucci made his name with bombastic trap beats, but "Hitta" is a little more refined and interesting. Sure, the sharp snares and big bass still in effect, but he incorporates a melange of samples and a crazy beat switch-up to keep you on your toes throughout the song's six minute length.

10. Action Bronson vs Charles Bronson - "Get Off My P.P. (Cookin Soul Remix)"

Spanish duo Cookin' Soul breathe new life into Action Bronson's "Get Off My P. P.," laying his vocals over a brand new instrumental. Their beat is dusty boom-bap perfection, and it samples the 1974 Charles Bronson classic movie Death Wish which had a soundtrack composed by Herbie Hancock.

11. Omarion - "You Like It (Pedrowl Remix)"

Omarion's "You Like It" gets a facelift from Pedrowl, who tweaks the vocals from the seductive original and turns it into a hyperactive, club-ready jam.

12. Demons of Ruby Mae - "Beneath The Surface"

Leicester duo Demons of Ruby Mae is comprised of Jonny Gavin and Adam Rowley. Despite the fact that their name sounds more fitting for a metal band, their music is more soulful than it is aggressive. "Beneath The Surface" is a heartfelt song that mixes folk-feel vocals with sudden electronic elements.

A great introduction to the duo's work, download from the player below.

13. Oyinda - "Rush of You"

London-raised Nigerian singer/songwriter/producer Oyinda will be playing one of her first shows at Lollapalooza in a few weeks, which is a pretty big deal considering that she's still quite new to the game. But after hearing the eclectic "Rush of You," it's obvious why she scored that gig.

14. ALFAPAARE - "Nigerian Groove"

Spend just a little bit of time on Soundcloud, and you will discover some awesome new music and probably be introduced to styles or genres that you never even knew existed. Such was the case with LA production duo ALFA PAARE and "Nigerian Groove," a relentlessly fun track that bounces along with (presumably) a sample from Nigerian music of some sort.

15. Spooky Black - "reason"

Whatever you think of young Spooky Black, it's hard to deny that his latest song "Reason" is well written and well produced. With production from Doc McKinney, who worked with The Weeknd on his early output, it's a slow-paced alternative pop/R&B song that fits right in with the current wave of mixing soft vocals with widescreen electronic elements.

16. Cartie - "Where You From"

L.A. rapper Cartie dropped his new mixtape Drive By this past week, and the stellar project concentrates on pairing stand-out production with his steady flow. Check out "Where You From," as well as the rest of the project below, and download Drive By here.
