Listen to Lily Allen's "Unofficial World Cup Song," An Ode to What She Loves About England

None

While Lily Allen’s latest album Sheezus maybe didn’t quite live up to the hype created by its title and the various controversies (aka internet thinkpiece armageddon) surrounding her songs and videos, it was a solid record full of bright pop songs, all delivered with Allen’s sly sense of humor. Now she’s put that sense of humor to use again, on her “unofficial world cup song” “Bass Like Home.”

It’s a none-to-serious celebration of all things English, from Shakespeare, to Lennon, to illegal raves near the M25 (the highway that circles London), to the dance music that means there is “no bass like home.” Listen to the song below, and, if you’re English cry tears of patriotic pride.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.
