Whether he’s releasing a book or DJing at Brooklyn Bowl, Questlove has been working in various avenues to stretch himself beyond The Roots, and today the drummer announced his latest venture: a live collaboration television show on VH1. Named SoundClash, the show will bring together three artists every week to come together in collaborative performance. Diplo will be acting as the show’s host.

The project already has some serious legs too. The first show will feature Lil Wayne, London Grammar, and Fall Out Boy, while Ed Sheeran, Sia, and Grouplove have been announced for the second episode. The AP reports that the idea of the series “is to showcase A-List musicians and rising acts performing a range of songs, from current hits to covers to collaborative numbers, instantaneously.” As long as this doesn’t mean that we’ll be seeing Fall Out Boy perform covers from Lil Wayne’s Rebirth, it sounds like a cool idea.

Be on the lookout for the first episode which will premiere July 23.
