Following in the footsteps of countryman James Blake, Manchester’s Oceaán (Oliver Cean) spins electronic webs that are inspired by R&B but pull from all corners of music. It’s occupies the same space originally cleared out by Blake, but it’s artists like Oceaán who are deciding where to go next.
Today Oceaán shares the video for “To Lose,” one of the tracks off his stunning debut EP (you can stream it in full here). The visuals, like the accompanying sounds, are a collection of smoky, shadowy images that find frontman Cean in a liminal space, neither here nor there. The video was directed by Jodie Canwell.
