Last September, a mysterious band called Vaults put “Cry No More” on their Soundcloud. It was a mournful, beautiful song with a powerful chorus, and had me excited to see what they’d do next. It’s been over six months, and finally we have a new song from Vaults, “Premonitions,” their debut single which will be out June 9 via National Anthem.
Again, the lead singer’s powerful vocals are immediately arresting, while the production is creative and varied. This is pop, but with that darkness and edge that Scandinavian artists often do so well. Now, just don’t make us wait another six months for more music.
