By the time Sway Clarke II dropped his first official solo track, ?I Don’t Need Much,” he already had experience writing for big name artists, and it showed. His first song was polished and was stuck in our heads for months. All it took was that one song, now at over 130,000 plays on SoundCloud, to get the ball rolling for Sway as a solo act. After that, he performed a series of shows with Haim in Europe, appeared on stage with Tinie Tempah at the massive O2 arena in London, and now the Berlin-based singer is ready for the follow-up.
His new song “Secret Garden” is more upbeat and just as catchy, anchored by a piano bounce reminiscent of Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets” or Frank Ocean’s “Super Rich Kids.” It’s that sweet spot between alt-R&B and pure pop—something that sounds fresh, but also wouldn’t be out of place with the major radio hits.
