Video: Laurel - "To the Hills"

Watch the video for Laurel's new track, "To the Hills."

English pop singer Laurel has just released a video for her new track “To the Hills,” a soft, heart-breaker not unlike something you’d hear from contemporaries like Lorde or Lana Del Rey. It’s a delicate track accompanied by a video that feels rooted in romanticism and strange nostalgia.

The clip shows Laurel with her lover, wandering around a neighborhood where they eventually make a bed for themselves out of items from a yard sale. Initially, it just seems like a carefree scene between two teenagers, but its idyllic qualities are quickly thrown off-balance by the presence of an old man watching them. At the end, he stands up and starts slow-dancing with Laurel.

Is the video a recollection of the old man’s memories? Is Laurel his past love? Or is he just remarkably creepy? Watch the clip above and see what you make of it.
