Video: Broods - "Bridges"

New Zealand electro-pop duo Broods releases the video for their hit single "Bridges."

Shortly after apparating onto the internet with “Bridges” in late 2013, New Zealand’s Broods became, in some minds, the heirs apparent to Lorde. That case was helped in no small part by the fact that the two kiwi groups had a legendary producer in common, Joel Little.

But since that first release, Broods have come to occupy an entirely separate space from their countrywoman, making smooth, electronic ballads that have more in common with Braids or Oscar Key Sung.

We’ll hold off on a final verdict until the duo’s self-titled EP debuts March 31. In the meantime, Broods has released a video for “Bridges,” shot in Copenhagen and directed by Jeppe Kolstrup. It’s a melancholy tug of war between two young not-quite lovers with some stunning cinematography capturing Denmark’s capital. Watch above.
