Out Among the Stars: Watch Local Natives, Father John Misty, and Brandon Flowers Cover Johnny Cash

Watch La Blogotheque's "Out Among the Stars," a short tribute film for Johnny Cash featuring Local Native, Father John Misty, and Brandon Flowers.

Out Among the Stars, a collection of lost recordings from the late Johnny Cash, was released this week, stirring a wave nostalgia among his biggest fans. Apparently, some of his most ardent supporters include Brandon Flowers, Local Natives, and Father John Misty, who covered the late, great country artist in a short film recently produced by La Blogothèque.

Backed by Dawes, Flowers is shown singing a warbling, heartfelt rendition of “I Came To Believe.” After, Father John Misty takes on “Baby Ride Easy,” followed by an intimate, nighttime performance of “Out Among the Stars” by Local Natives.

Along with these covers, each artist takes some time to express their admiration for Cash. Flowers talks about the connection he and his father shared while listening to Cash’s music, while Father John Misty says, “I always loved the sense of humor between June and Johnny Cash.”

The details are a nice touch, adding some genuine appreciation from the artists in this well-made, tasteful tribute to Cash. Watch the entire 16-minute film above.
